Good morning to our SCcyber family!
As you may have heard on the news, September 19 has been announced by the Government of Canada as a National Day of Mourning for the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Our school will remain open as usual on that day, but we invite those that wish to mark the event with a moment of silence as they see fit during the day.
We recognize that the monarchy is rightfully a controversial and sometimes painful reminder of the hardship and injustice that Indigenous people in Canada have endured under colonization. For those that don't wish to observe the day of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II, we encourage you to mark the day in personal reflection on, and celebration of, your own Indigenous culture.
