Hello all,

Please join us in support of Bullying Awareness Week!

This year, Children and Family Services is partnering with Education to host a special event on preventing and addressing bullying and harassment. We’re featuring two gifted speakers who will share their unique stories and experiences with us.

Teddy Manywounds is a two-spirited person from Tsuut’ina Nation, whose career has taken him from southern Alberta to New York City fashion, from comedy to activism and now as the Director of Justice for G4 Stoney Nakoda Tsuut’ina Tribal Council. He will discuss lateral violence from ethical, cultural and justice perspectives and how it relates to shame, depression, mental health and pain.

Sheldon Kennedy skated for three teams in his eight-year NHL career, but he is likely best known for his courageous decision to charge his Major Junior Hockey League coach with sexual assault for the abuse he suffered while a teenager under his care. Since then, Sheldon has become an unofficial spokesperson for millions of survivors around the world and through the Respect Group, which he co-founded in 2004, he empowers people to recognize and prevent abuse, bullying and harassment in sport, school and the workplace.
