Good afternoon to our SCcyber family!
Are you thinking ahead to college and university?
Many
times we hear that our students may feel worried that they won't feel at
home as an Indigenous person away from their own place. It can be
really hard to step away from family and community to attend school in
another city.
Did you know that each college and university has a special place for Indigenous students to gather and find familiar community on campus. These student centres have special cultural activities, cultural foods, tutoring, elder visits, and a safe and welcoming space for Indigenous students to call "home" on campus.
One such place is Kihew Waciston at MacEwan University in Edmonton.
You can learn more about this and other Indigenous student centres in our SCcyber Resource Course that is on every student dashboard at SCcyber. If you don't see the SCcyber Resource Course on your dashboard, please ask your mentor to add it for you. Click in to the resource course and go to the collage and careers area. There is a link all about Indigenous Student centres on campuses where you can explore several different ones.
Don't forget to check out the other very helpful resources that the resource course has of offer, too!
Have a great day looking forward to your bright future!
