Good morning to our SCcyber family!

This announcement is intended for our adult students or anyone that might know an adult that would like to attend school but needs financial assistance.  (Students under age 20 by Sept. 1 qualify for tuition funding from Alberta Education if they are registered with us by Sept. 29 of the school year.)

Are you aware of the Alberta Foundational Learning Assistance Program (formerly Alberta Works) for adult learners?

Some Alberta resident students over age 19, who have been out of regular high school for more than one year, and that make less than $35000 per year ($5000 more per child if they have children) in total for their household may qualify for part-time or full-time funding.

Part-time includes tuition funding for 1-2 courses (tuition only, no living allowance)

Full-time funding includes living allowance plus tuition for 3-4 courses for full-time study.

All students also receive $125 per course in "book money" to purchase items needed for their schooling.

If you, or someone you know, needs tuition assistance to come to school, please contact your mentor right away.  Full-time applications need to be sent out in May and June so that they can be processed and the student will receive their living allowance right away when school starts in September.

Mentors and previous applicants, please note there is a new simplified digital application process using the Alberta government's My Digital ID. The old paper applications are no longer going to be accepted.

Please note that SCcyber has no say in the funding decisions for this government program, but we do help students apply, and many SCcyber students have been able to take advantage of this opportunity over the years.  Students that apply for Alberta Works, but aren't accepted by them for funding, will be required to pay tuition to continue.

Please talk to your mentor or contact me if you have any questions.

Blessings to you all as you work hard to complete your school year!

Mrs. Kam
