Important Reminder about our Corrections Policy

Good morning to our SCcyber family.

Thank you all for your hard work this semester.  The diploma exam and final exam season is underway!

I hope this finds you all safe and warm.

This is a friendly reminder that as per our student handbook section 4.8, corrections are not being accepted for semester one after January 11, 2024, except under very exceptional circumstances (simply getting behind in their work would not be considered an exceptional circumstance).  This a a change from previous years where corrections may have been accepted much later but that caused many issues, so this year we instituted the new policy.  January 11 has come and gone a week ago, so students should no longer be submitting corrections.  At this point of the semester, it is more important for students to move on and complete the course, not to be redoing old items.

The extension period in February is not meant for "redoing" a significant portion (or all!) of the course assignments through corrections after the final is written and a final mark is received.  Corrections are meant to be done well ahead of the final exam so that the student can gain mastery over the material before the final.  The extension is a courtesy we extend to students to help them finish last-minute items they were not able to complete during the previous semester that would otherwise be marked "inc".  Students that need the extension can continue to hand in missing (NOT corrected) assignments and complete missing exams until February 22 at noon.  For students that need additional time after February 22, tuition will be due to continue for another semester.

Please be sure that you are familiar with our student handbook so that you don't have any surprises about our policies.  If you do not have a copy, please ask your mentor to provide you with one.  It is available to them in the "Mentor Meeting Room".  Mentors should be ensuring that all students have access to the student handbook when they register for school.

I am always happy to answer questions.

Blessings as you work hard to complete your semester and reach your goals!
